UNSW IT is part of UNSW’s Operations Division and provides reliable, cost effective and state of the art IT services. The Division was established in recent years to provide corporate services in support of the Faculties and Divisions. As part of this change the UNSW IT team continues to evolve as it works toward its ambition of being a world class technology delivery and support team enabling the University with world class solutions and capabilities. 

About the role:  

As the Head of Education Solutions, you will play a key leadership role within the Student, Academic and Research domain.  

The key purpose of the role is to be a future focused, single point of ownership for Education Solutions. This includes leading the full solution delivery lifecycle of partner, plan, build, transition, run and sustain for education domain applications and solutions. 

About you:  

You will be an experienced Senior Technology Leader to drive the delivery of end-to-end systems and solutions within the IT Student and Education portfolio. You’ll take a strategic lead across all technology projects and planning, working closely with stakeholders to deliver high-impact outcomes. Strong business partnering skills and a deep understanding of the education environment are essential. 

  •  Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive knowledge of higher education (education and/or student focused) IT systems improvement and transformation, through all stages from defining the need for change, to implementation. 

  • Proven ability to successfully develop and lead the implementation of robust digital strategies to deliver business outcomes and experience with driving technology change. 

  • Proven strong leadership capabilities across all areas of the IT environment or within a matrix management structure. 

  • Proven ability to define, develop and manage large portfolios and programs of work. Including knowledge of product-based approaches and agile methods of delivery 

  • Strong analytical skills, effective business planning and budgeting skills with demonstrated experience in strategic and operational planning. 

  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with significant experience in building effective / high performance teams along with developing and retaining staff. 

  • Versatile, results-oriented, with a continuous improvement focus and ability to influence outcomes with both senior leaders and other stakeholders throughout the organisation. 

  • Demonstrated creativity, innovation and ethical thinking in applying solutions for the benefit of the customer/stakeholder. 

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills including the ability to develop effective relationships and influence key stakeholders at all levels in the organisation.
