Position Summary
The Senior Educational Developer plays a key role in supporting the Medicine Program Redesign through the leadership, design, development, and evaluation of innovative, high-quality curriculum initiatives. Working collaboratively with academic staff, the role contributes to engaging undergraduate and postgraduate learning experiences by integrating evidence-based pedagogy, curriculum design principles, and technology-enhanced teaching strategies.
The position is responsible for developing digital learning activities, assessments, and educational resources aligned with program learning outcomes and university policies. It also leads educational projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the Faculty, applying contemporary knowledge of higher education, learning design, and educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning practices.
In addition, the Senior Educational Developer supports curriculum mapping and academic governance processes by maintaining new course outlines and topic data reports and assisting with the creation and maintenance of curriculum data within the Curriculum Mapping System in accordance with university policies and procedures.
Some key skills required:
- Relevant qualifications in education and technology with experience in the development of technology-enabled learning, teaching and/or curriculum for higher education; or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Evidence of providing effective leadership in identifying and developing areas for innovation and improvement of learning and teaching in accordance with strategic priorities and policy requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum and higher education course design, development and review, with a focus on technology-enhanced learning, teaching and assessment.
- Demonstrated experience in developing engaging and user-friendly course sites in learning management systems (such as Moodle, Canvas) including the production of interactive learning materials and activities utilising a range of appropriate educational technologies that enhance the student experience.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, developing, facilitating and reviewing professional development programs, activities and services to effectively build individual capability in technology-enhanced learning and teaching.
- Proven ability to exercise initiative and autonomy in interacting with, piloting and critically evaluating, new and emerging educational technologies such as the use of generative AI in the classroom.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining new course outlines and topic data reports to support internal academic governance processes and assisting with the creation and maintenance of curriculum data in Curriculum Mapping Systems in accordance with university policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated effective project management including the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks/projects to achieve project outcomes within agreed timeframes.
- Excellent digital skills in using the Microsoft Office suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and Power Platform (Power BI, Automate, Apps).
- Demonstrated use of Power Platform for teaching contexts would be highly regarded.
