Position Summary:

The Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) at the University of New South Wales Business School offers innovative, experiential, world-class MBA programs designed to equip a new generation of leaders to make an impact in an accelerating world.
Career Accelerator @ AGSM is dedicated to assisting AGSM students to realise their career ambitions and to provide them with the tools for life-long career success. The Lead, Industry Engagement (MBA) plays a key role in fostering and managing external relationships with a focus on developing and implementing strategies to ensure the delivery of high-level support, contacts and opportunities. The role is responsible for the provision of best practice career transition services and resources for fulltime MBA students to optimise their career success following completion of AGSM study.


Accountabilities:

  • Act as a central point of contact for Full-Time MBA students throughout their career development journeys from pre-arrival through graduation, including regular check-ins, networking support, and recruitment related guidance and introductions.
  • Design and implement a strategy and system to source suitable internships, projects, mentors and job opportunities for each student individually and case manage students throughout their studies.
  • Develop and manage external relationships, specifically with corporate stakeholders, professional recruiting partners and other organisations to assess hiring needs and cultivate a deep understanding of market trends.
  • Lead virtual and on-campus industry events for an MBA audience in collaboration with the Operations Team, ensuring optimal representation of major recruiting organisations, with an emphasis on targeted employment sectors and aligned to career interests of AGSM students.
  • Collect, collate, and interpret career data collection throughout the full-time cohort’s MBA journey to be used in annual rankings and publishing of employment outcomes and support other ranking and re- accreditation initiatives in AGSM and the Business School.
  • Effectively engage with AGSM Alumni to ensure high participation in all events and to encourage alumni to identify regional, national and global employment, internship and project opportunities.
  • Implement and maintain a formal professional networking introduction system to connect AGSM students with alumni within Australia and internationally.
  • Manage records of engagement with students and industry stakeholders on relevant platforms and collaborate closely with the Career Education Team and within the Engagement Team on industry facing initiatives, communications and campaigns.

Skills and Experience:

To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in recruiting, managing, and maintaining external relations, partnerships and engagement programs, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • High level interpersonal, management and negotiation skills with the ability to collaborate and liaise effectively with a wide client base including students, staff, alumni, and corporates.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in developing and managing employer partnerships with community, government and industry organisations that generate mutual value for students, partners and UNSW to enhance student employability
  • Demonstrated experience delivering effective and efficient student-centred services will be essential.
  • Demonstrated excellence in time management, effectively prioritizing workloads in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. Ability to work independently and proactively while consistently meeting deadlines and maintaining a keen attention to detail."
  • Advanced level of computer literacy with excellent skills in the Microsoft Office Suite and databases, and experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders (internal and external) and to develop collaborative solutions in a complex organisational environment.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours in support of student provision and Career events.
