The Opportunity

  • $113,926 – 123,301 + 17% super + leave loading, pro-rata
  • Part-time (28 hours week), fixed term contract from Aug to Dec 2025

The Australian Government’s Trailblazer Universities Program is part of a package of strategic reforms to leverage further excellence from the university research sector by stimulating change, boosting collaboration with industry, and driving commercial returns in promoting critical technologies.

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is one of several key education focused Defence Trailblazer Workforce initiatives to enable students to be immersed in real-world industry. WIL Program Coordinator, Defence Trailblazer will work across the Defence Trailblazer Workforce initiative playing a key role in coordinating WIL internships and networking opportunities  for postgraduate research students as well as undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students.

This includes building strong and sustained relationships with industry partners to facilitate new WIL opportunities, from sourcing the candidate, developing the terms and conditions and supporting selection. Working in close collaboration with the UoA WIL team, as well as with the UNSW WIL Industrial Training Manager and the UNSW Graduate Research School, the role will sit within the Division of Research and Enterprise (DVCRE) at the University of New South Wales and report into the Workforce Portfolio Manager, Defence Trailblazer.

About the successful applicant

You can demonstrate your WIL program coordination experience with either defence or related industry partners, as well as the following Skills and Experience:

  • Ability and experience in building and managing stakeholder relationships especially with industry stakeholders, to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Knowledge and experience in coordinating WIL programs including aligning partner needs with academic course and program offerings with the ability to meet engagement and participation targets
  • High-level organisational and administrative skills, with acute record keeping and prior experience in using a CRM platform to manage tasks, communication and workload allocations
  • Time management skills, with experience in managing multiple tasks with competing deadlines, applying effective problem-solving skills, and being innovative and creative in generating solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and cooperatively with multiple stakeholders.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
