The Opportunity
Join the Education Innovation Team within the Faculty of Engineering as an Educational Developer/Senior Educational Developer to assist in the development, design, implementation, and evaluation of new blended, hybrid and online teaching methods into Engineering courses and programs. In this key role you will provide leadership and strategic thinking in the implementation and co-ordination of faculty-wide educational initiatives to assure and improve faculty capacity and individual capability in relation to the design, development, delivery and evaluation of learning, teaching and assessment. This is a highly collaborative role where you will develop strong lasting working relationships with key academic and professional stakeholders across the faculty to support professional development activities that enhance staff teaching capacities to staff as well as support for redeveloping courses to achieve the learning and teaching strategies of the university.
Key projects to be done as part of the role that have emerged in line with the Engineering white paper strategy include; Responsive assessment design to integrate generative AI across the curriculum level; supporting academics with scholarship of learning and teaching research and publishing in the new Centre for the Future of Engineering Education, Faculty-wide curriculum mapping project to engage in curriculum-wide redesign projects in partnership with the Engineering Academic Programs team, and; the development of a Faculty-wide Professional Development Framework. The further responsibilities for the Senior level of the role will involve leading, coordinating and evaluating Faculty-wide educational initiatives aimed at bolstering Faculty capacity and individual capabilities in learning, teaching, assessment design, and evaluation.
- Salary, Level 7/8: $106,351 to $133,948 per annum + 17% superannuation

Skills and Experience
Level 7
- A degree in education or educational technologies with a depth of subsequent relevant experience in educational design, or other equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of common Learning Management Systems and tools for creating digital educational resources.
- Experience developing pedagogically appropriate digital educational resources.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of pedagogy, course design and blended learning.
- Demonstrated experience delivering high quality customer service, preferably in a University context.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
Level 8 – In addition to the above
- A degree in education or educational technologies with a depth of subsequent relevant experience in educational design, or other equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced, especially in relation to creation of reports and analysis for senior leadership and stakeholders in the wider education community.
- Sound stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior management and liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing pedagogically appropriate systems or programs requiring integration of theoretical or technical knowledge in a complex, specialised environment.
- Advanced experience working with a range of educational technologies and common learning management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and provide direction to others.
